A place full of history
Located at the corner of Rue Bergère and Rue du Faubourg-Poissonnière, this building, designed by architect François Le Cœur between 1911 and 1935, is a striking example of early 20th-century industrial architecture. Originally intended to house a telephone exchange and offices, it stands out for its avant-garde design, which broke away from the standards of its time.
On Rue Bergère, large glass windows illuminated the two telephone exchange halls, while a brick blind wall on Rue du Faubourg-Poissonnière, adorned with a wrought-iron clock featuring zodiac signs sculpted by Szabo, marked the transition to the office spaces.
Listed as a Historic Monument since May 26, 1999, this former telephone exchange, known as “Provence” and later “Bergère,” will be rehabilitated by Covivio to blend modernity with respect for its heritage.
